MABUTA Mk-2 Hot Weather Field Pants in Varan camo are functional tactical field pants designed for active use in hot weather. The model combines durable Rip-Stop Prof-it-On fabric, stretch inserts in key areas, eight functional pockets and removable knee pads with an adjustable fit.
The MABUTA Mk-2 is a modern interpretation of the “Mabuta” field uniform, which was used in hot climates and became popular among special operations personnel, reconnaissance units and paratroopers. In 2013, P1G-TAC developed its own modern MABUTA Mk-2 version, adapting the concept to the requirements of 21st-century field clothing.
Rip-Stop Prof-it-On for Field Use
The main material of the pants is Rip-Stop Prof-it-On consisting of 65% cotton and 35% polyester. The Rip-Stop structure incorporates reinforcement into the fabric and increases its resistance to mechanical damage, which is especially important for field clothing used in demanding conditions.
For additional wear resistance, the inner side of the lower legs is reinforced with an additional layer of fabric. Similar reinforcement is used around the front pockets, where the fabric may come into contact with a knife, flashlight or other clip-mounted equipment.
8 Functional Pockets
The MABUTA Mk-2 construction features eight pockets:
- 2 front slash pockets;
- 2 front thigh cargo pockets with flaps;
- 2 rear pockets with flaps;
- 2 rear thigh cargo pockets with flaps.
The thigh cargo pockets close with Canadian-style slotted buttons. This type of closure is convenient to operate, including while wearing gloves, while the button attachment method helps reduce the risk of accidental tearing or loss.
Special pleats allow the pockets to expand when filled, while empty pockets remain close to the surface of the pants and do not create unnecessary bulk.
Rear Thigh Pockets as Improvised Dump Pouches
The rear thigh pockets feature an elastic cord with a stopper that allows the size of the pocket opening to be adjusted. Thanks to this design, the pockets can be used for temporary storage of empty magazines or other similarly sized gear.
Wide Waistband and 4 D-Rings
The waistband features a wide, rigid construction with an internal cushioning insert. It provides a secure fit and helps absorb moisture in the area where the waistband contacts the body.
The rear section of the waistband features a stretch nylon insert that maintains freedom of movement even when the waist is securely adjusted. The waist circumference can be individually adjusted using a wide hook-and-loop closure.
Wide belt loops accommodate a belt up to 5.5 cm wide. The construction also includes 4 YKK D-rings for attaching compatible additional gear.
Removable Knee Pads with Adjustable Fit
The knee area of the MABUTA Mk-2 features stretch inserts that support freedom of movement while walking, running, squatting and changing body position.
For knee protection, the pants feature removable knee pads consisting of a plastic outer shell and soft cushioning layer. Their position can be adjusted in two directions: vertically through the front thigh pockets and around the leg for the required fit using elastic adjustments behind the knee.
Adjustable Lower Legs
The width of the lower legs can be adjusted using hook-and-loop cuffs. They allow the fit around footwear to be adjusted and help reduce the entry of dirt and sand.
The inner section of the lower leg is reinforced with an additional layer of material to increase wear resistance in areas exposed to frequent contact with footwear and surrounding surfaces.
