MABUTA Mk-2 (Hot Weather Field Pants) in Steppe Frog camouflage are functional tactical pants designed for active use in hot weather and field conditions. The model combines durable Rip-Stop Prof-it-On fabric, stretch inserts in key areas, eight functional pockets and removable knee pads with an adjustable fit.
The MABUTA Mk-2 is a modern interpretation of the “Mabuta” field uniform, designed for use in hot climates and well known among special operations personnel, reconnaissance units and paratroopers. In 2013, the P1G-TAC brand introduced the modern MABUTA Mk-2 version, updating the concept with new materials and construction solutions in line with the requirements of modern field uniforms.
Rip-Stop Prof-it-On for Field Use
The main material of the pants is Rip-Stop Prof-it-On consisting of 65% cotton and 35% polyester. The reinforced Rip-Stop structure increases the fabric's resistance to tearing and mechanical wear, which is particularly important for field clothing.
Additional reinforcement is provided in high-wear areas. The inner side of the lower legs is reinforced with a second layer of material. A similar insert is located around the front pockets to increase wear resistance when carrying a knife, flashlight or other clip-mounted equipment.
8 Functional Pockets
The MABUTA Mk-2 construction features eight pockets:
- 2 front slash pockets;
- 2 front thigh cargo pockets with flaps;
- 2 rear pockets with flaps;
- 2 rear thigh cargo pockets with flaps.
The thigh cargo pockets close with slotted military-style buttons that are convenient to operate even while wearing gloves. The specific button attachment method also helps reduce the risk of accidental tearing or loss during active use.
Special pleats allow the pockets to expand when loaded. When empty, their construction helps them sit closer to the leg and minimizes unnecessary bulk.
Rear Thigh Pockets for Empty Magazine Storage
The rear thigh pockets feature an elastic cord with a stopper that allows the size of the opening to be adjusted. This allows them to function as integrated improvised dump pouches for temporarily carrying empty magazines or other similarly sized gear.
Wide Waistband and 4 D-Rings
The waistband features a wide, rigid construction with an internal cushioning insert. It provides a secure fit and helps absorb moisture in the area where the waistband contacts the body.
The rear section of the waistband features a stretch nylon insert that maintains freedom of movement even when the waist is securely tightened. The waist circumference can be individually adjusted using a wide hook-and-loop closure.
Wide belt loops accommodate a belt up to 5.5 cm wide. The construction also includes 4 YKK D-rings for attaching compatible additional gear.
Removable Knee Pads with Adjustable Fit
Stretch nylon inserts are positioned in the knee area to provide freedom of movement while walking, running, squatting and changing body position.
For knee protection, the pants feature removable knee pads consisting of a plastic outer section and soft cushioning layer. Their position can be adjusted in two directions: vertically through the front thigh pockets and around the leg for the required fit using elastic adjustments behind the knee.
Adjustable Lower Legs
The width of the lower legs can be adjusted using hook-and-loop cuffs. They allow the fit around footwear to be adjusted and help reduce the entry of dirt and sand.
The inner side of the lower legs is additionally reinforced with a second layer of material to increase wear resistance in areas exposed to frequent contact with footwear and surrounding surfaces.
