5.11 Tactical® Apex® Softshell Pants are weather-resistant tactical pants based on the popular 5.11 Tactical® Apex® Pants and adapted for use in cool, windy and wet weather. 2L Softshell — Protection Against Precipitation, Wind and Cool Weather

The main fabric used in the Apex® Softshell Pants is a two-layer 2L Softshell with four-way mechanical stretch. The material combines a protective outer layer with a soft microfleece inner surface.

The fabric has a 5,000 mm waterproof rating and 2,000 g/m²/24h breathability rating. These specifications provide protection against moderate precipitation, wet snow and wind while allowing some excess moisture and vapor generated during physical activity to escape.

The microfleece backer improves comfort against underlying clothing layers and helps retain warmth in cool conditions. It is not a separate bulky insulation layer but an integral part of the Softshell construction.

DWR C0 — Additional Water-Repellent Performance

The outer surface of the fabric is additionally treated with DWR C0. This water-repellent treatment helps water bead up and roll off the material, slowing down saturation of the outer fabric.
