The "RAT" is the original model of the legendary Ontario knife. Developed in the early 2000s by Jeff Rendel, this model, 20 years after its "birth", has become even more popular. Although the knife was created as a survivalist training equipment, this knife has long gone beyond its original purpose. Many models of other knives were created on its basis (smaller models, switchblades, etc), nowadays the name "RAT" is rather an index or common name of a specific type of knives.

What is the secret of the great popularity, let's try to shortly tell about this, describing the functional and technical features in parallel. First of all - the shape of the blade, due to its structure it has a large cutting area and remarkable piercing properties, because the tip of the blade is on the line of the highest applied pressure.

Blade material - original knives of this type are made only from AUS-8 steel, this material is corrosion resistant, reliable and easy to maintain. Steel has blued coating, which is more wear-resistant than paint. There is a special ledge on the top of the blade to quickly bring the knife into readiness by a reliable bearing mechanism. Blade is reliably locked in open position with Liner-Lock.

Handle is two-component and made of steel and nylon pads. Ceiling liners guarantee good fixation and long-term operation of the knife. Synthetic ribbed pads make it comfortable to fit and hold in your hand. The handle has a clip for attaching the knife to gear or a belt, which can be attached in four different positions, depending on the users' needs. The handle also has a hole for attaching a lanyard.
