RAT I Folder Assist is the automatic version of the "RAT II BP", which in turn is a smaller version of the legendary "RAT". Thу model «RAT» was designed in the early 2000s by Jeff Randall in collaboration with Ontario, and today it is one of the most popular models around the world.

The structure of this model involves a switchblade, the construction of which consists of the following parts. The blade has a characteristic (for this model) shape, it is made of stainless steel AUS-8, of Japanese production. The knife made of this material is notable for its durability, high wear resistance, excellent cutting properties, easily sharpened and stays sharp for a long time. There is a special button on the upper part of the handle, which actuates a spring in the middle of the knife for quick activation. Reliable locking in open position is provided by Liner-Lock lock.

The handle of the knife is made of two steel liners, which, together with the bearing mechanism, ensure long-lasting use. The grips on the handle are made of thermoformed nylon and are ribbed for a better fit in the hand and prevents slipping even in wet conditions. There is also a clip on the handle for attaching the knife to a belt or a pocket, and a hole for a lanyard.
