"PBS" (Polar Bear Sox) are made of revolutionary WW-Block® insulation material. WW-Block® is waterproof. Thanks to that your feet stay warm and dry, even in case of significant soaking of your boots. WW-Block® is one of the few membrane materials specifically designed for field or military use at extremely low temperatures. Typically a lot of layers are used for insulation in winter field conditions, which in itself binds human movement. Unlike most of the materials used for the upper layers of winter clothing, WW-Block® is elastic (15% tensile material without loss of material properties from returning to its original state), which reduces the load on people on active operations and does not prevent sharp movements.
Structure of WW-Block® membrane is designed for low and extremely low temperatures in such a way that 80% of body heat stays withing while only 20% (excess heat during active operations at low temperatures) come out through the membrane grid. Most modern membrane fabric with polyurethane coated surface are not designed for extremely low temperatures due to the fact that the polyurethane hardens at low temperatures, resulting in the complete hardening of tissue. The result is a typical "rustling" in the movement. In the WW-Block® fabric the dense structured polyester-fleece (inside and outside the membrane) is used instead of polyurethane coating, which protects the membrane from exposure to low temperatures, abrasion (both inside and out) and creates an additional insulated air space inside the clothes made from WW-Block®. ATTENTION! In order to avoid condensation of the vapor during activities at low temperatures it is recommended to use thermosocks with usual simple socks. Thermal socks must be worn over sock and must not be worn on bare feet.
Anatomical cut of "PBS" (Polar Bear Sox) allows them to fit perfectly to the feet and does not create additional folds inside, which is important when using winter and demi-season field and sports boots. Flexible structure of WW-Block® membrane material and anatomical cut of socks create light compression effect that improving blood circulation intensity at low temperatures.
