A soldier's badge (death medallion) is a badge that allows quick identification of the killed and wounded in combat and is therefore mandatory for all servicemen to wear.

Nowadays the order of filling in the US army badge is the following: the first line - the last name, the second - the first name and the initial, the third - social security number, the fourth - blood group and Rh factor, the fifth - religion. Only positive Rh factor (POS) is indicated. Religions: Orthodox, Protestant, Baptist, Catholic, Hebrew, No preference, Atheist.

In the U.S. Marine Corps a modern badge shows: first line - last name, second - first name and initial, third - personal number and blood type, fourth - USMC, gas mask size number (XS, S, M, L, XL), fifth - religion. For Marines the personal number can be 5, 6, or even 7 digits.
