The catalytic warmer is designed for prolonged warming of limbs. It works on the principle of heat generation by flameless oxidation of gasoline vapors in the presence of a catalyst. Gasoline vapors from the tank pass through the catalytic cartridge, where they are oxidized by air oxygen (burn without flame) on the surface of the heated catalyst. The oxidation products escape into the cover vents. At the same time oxygen-containing air flows to the surface of the catalyst through the cover vents. The catalytic mesh (catalyst) is in the form of an oppression and is located inside a steel mesh cartridge made of platinum - it is the most important part of the heater. To start, the mesh in the catalytic cartridge is heated for 10-15 seconds using a non-smoking flame (such as a lighter).

The fuel for the heater is high grade gasoline or lighter gasoline. Use of other fuels may cause rapid clogging of the catalytic gauze, which will affect its effectiveness. You can purchase a replacement catalytic heater diaphragm here - Sturm Mil-Tec "Pocket Stove Spare Burner".
