Tactical suspenders: a trip to the past

The first mentions of suspenders for trousers date back to the 17th century. They appeared in France. The idea of their creation comes from a sword belt. Gradually, this idea was improved and an accessory similar to a modern one was obtained. Subsequently, the Germans, in particular the Bavarians and Tyroleans, used suspenders as a mandatory element of traditional clothing.

The Englishman Albert Thorston is considered the inventor of men's braces in their modern form. He began selling them in his shop in 1820. A feature of the design was fastening with loops for buttons, which were sewn from the inner or outer waist part of the pants, and a more universal fastening appeared later.

Mark Twain contributed to the improvement of suspenders by patenting in 1871 a clip for adjusting their length according to the figure. The clip-clamp, which allows you to quickly transfer suspenders from one trousers to another, was patented in the USA in 1894.

Suspenders were also a comfortable accessory for the working class, especially in the United States, where they became very popular. Aristocrats of Europe also showed interest in this accessory. Today, suspenders for pants are in demand among both men and women. They have become not only a functional wardrobe item, but also a stylish accessory that matches different looks and allows you to add diversity to them.

Suspenders for trousers: varieties and their features

Looking at the range of braces in stores, one is struck by their diversity. They differ in sizes, colors, materials, styles, design features, etc. Today we will talk exclusively about tactical braces. They are suitable for military personnel and lovers of active recreation. In general, there are three types of fasteners:

  • on the buttons under the loops on the trousers;
  • on universal clips;
  • on carabiners for waist belt.

Most modern models of army braces are produced on universal clips — "on crocodiles". This fixation is considered the most reliable. In addition, it allows you to easily put them on and take them off if necessary.

The size of braces depends on the person's height. The most popular sizes are 90, 100 and 110. Most models are universal, as the straps are equipped with adjustable fasteners.

As a rule, polyester is used as the main material for the manufacture of belts. Rubber and leather military suspenders are less common. Accessories are made of plastic and metals. Suspenders are an all-season accessory, so wearing them does not depend on the season.

When choosing tactical suspenders, you should take into account their strength, elasticity, length adjustment and type of fixation. Correctly selected suspenders will serve you for years. Tactical suspenders have come a long way from simple makeshift accessories to high-tech and functional systems that provide military and police officers with efficiency and comfort while performing their missions.
