Developed in 1971 and actively used by the US Army in the 1980s during desert exercises and combat operations, particularly during the Persian Gulf War, the 6-color desert camouflage has become one of the most popular arid camouflages in the world. The basis of this pattern is light beige and sandy colors, which are complemented by wide spots of pale olive green and two-tone stripes of brown, decorated with small black and white dots that imitate the appearance of stones. Thanks to this, the general appearance received the popular nicknames "chocolate crumb". or "baking mass".
Although field experience has shown this pattern to be of limited effectiveness, leading to its replacement by the more modern 3-color variant, it is still popular and has been used by many countries around the world over the years.
